The fall meeting of the Great Lakes and Great Rivers Section, The Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers, was held at the Continental Regency Hotel in Peoria, 111., on October 12, 1978. Ninety-five r e g i s t e r e d members and guests attended the meeting.

 

VSP: Same Power, 9% More Bollard Pull

With the commissioning of the Norway's Bukser og Berging Voith Water Tractor Baut. the improved characteristics of the new Voith Schneider Propeller (VSP) blades were demonstrated. The bollard pull ā€” as supervised by DNV ā€” was improved by nine percent while using the same input power.
